It is a bit late for Thanksgiving posts but I am not sure if you could find a better quote for the holidays. [Click on the link]

I cannot wait to watch old movies at home during the holidays. There are so many to see and the break simply cannot come fast enough. Call me crazy but at this point I find Marilyn Monroe to be far more entertaining than accounting.

* I do not know where the photo is from so please let me know if you do!

Where the Wild things are

“Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it. I answer all my children’s letters — sometimes very hastily — but this one I lingered over. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, “Dear Jim: I loved your card.” Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.” That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it.”

Sweet Dreams

I understand that it is the holiday season and while this brings me great joy, at this point in the semester I would be quite content to find a beach, listen to the waves and sleep.

Proenza Schouler Spring/Summer 2011

I know that its bit late for any reviews of fashion week, but what can I say? I am obsessed..... and procrastinating. I found these photos of Proenza Schouler Spring/Summer 2011 and at first glance I did not fully appreciated the ingenious of the collection. But then look at those COLORS! The juxtaposition of delicate frills and metal hardwire scream rocker chic. Top it off with bed head and suddenly it's like "yes, i just walked out of bed and I look like a bad ass. Bow down to me now." The contrast of black and white with the inyourface neon just solidifies my claim. These men are gods.

Puddle Jumping

More Super Slow Motion [Water] - 550D from Rickard Bengtsson on Vimeo.

This video makes me want to grab a pair of rain boots and jump in the largest, muddiest puddle I can find. Considering that I am not usually a supporter of dirt, this is saying something.

Do you remember that first instant when you realized that you were starting to grow up? I think it first hit me playing with my little sister in the 5th grade. It was like Cinderella’s carriage turning into the pumpkin. As a wizard in the woods my wand was simply a stick and my ally, the sorceress commanding the spirits and flying away on her broomstick, was just my kid sister on her bike with a cape. The clock had struck midnight and the magic was gone. It comes back every now and then, but unfortunately the clock seems to strike midnight earlier and earlier.

Victor & Rolf
Alexander McQueen
Haider Ackermann Paris

It amazes me, the transition from New York fashion week to Europe. The trends of wearable fashion from New York are thrown to the wayside in favor of abstract art in Europe. Striking color, pattern, geometric shapes, and architectural design mark a new form of fashion on the runways of Paris and Milan. Clicking my way through the shows in New York had my brain racking for ways in which my wallet could meet my fantasies to obtain a certain turban or short, but with the Europe runways my calculations were replaced more with contemplation. I wanted less to steal the clothes for myself than to run and frame them on my wall. While one struck me more for reflection, I am not sure that this makes it better. I like to wear my clothes and inspiration comes from both - the body and the frame, so I guess this was just a ramble, but if anyone else is reading... what would you say wearability or avant garde?
